FAQs

What are serological pipets used for?
A serological pipette is a used in the laboratory to measure liquid volumes. Earthox’s pipettes are made of polystyrene, a type of plastic.  The unit of measurement is in millimeters.  Volumes of 1ml to 100ml can be measured with EarthOx’s different pipette sizes.  Pipettes come in 2ml, 5ml, 10ml, 25ml, 50ml and 100ml sizes. Each pipette has graduations on the side to accurately measure different volume amounts.
Is a device needed to use a serological pipet?
Pipette aids are required to aspirate and dispense liquids. A serological pipette controller or a rubber bulb may be used. A pipette aid is a suction device to either suck liquid up or expel liquid out of the pipette.  The cost for a controller ranges from $10 to $500.  The rubber bulb is a cheaper alternative costs $5 to 15.
